100 Best Posters Of The Year—An International Poster Competition from Germany “It was in 1966 that a competition for the best posters of the year first took place in what was then the GDR (East Germany); the posters were awarded prizes and were subsequently presented in an exhibition. In 1980, this com- petition was re-named 'Die 100 besten Plakate des Jahres'(100 Best Posters of the Year). Thanks to the Graphic Designers' Association (Verband der Grafik-Designer e.V.), the competition survived in the reunited Germany. Since 1990, an increasing number of posters from the whole of Germany have been competing for '100 best Posters'—at the end of the decade over 1,000 per year.”
